STORBRITANNIEN. I en första etapp för att minska antalet invandrare som kommer till Storbritannien för att arbeta kommer inom kort ett tak att sättas upp av brittiska Home Office.
Det temporära taket är tänkt att sättas i kraft mer eller mindre omedelbart medan man arbetar på hur ett permanent tak kan reducera antalet invandrare. Den brittiska premiärministern, David Cameron, har nyligen lovat att få ner invandringen, som nu ligger på 176 000 per år, från ”hundratusentals till tiotusentals” och även sagt att ett årligt tak är det enda realistiska sättet att göra detta på. Det var bl a just detta som Cameron gick till val på och alltså visade sig vara nyckeln till rösterna.
Trots en arbetslöshet på 2,5 miljoner tog Storbritannien emot drygt 190 000 arbetskraftsinvandrare förra året. Tidigare denna månad avslöjades att drygt 1,1 miljoner jobb gavs till dessa invandrade arbetare som kunde vägrats arbetstillstånd, detta trots hundratusentals arbetslösa britter.

This proves that immigration was out of control under Labour, and it proves beyond doubt the dishonesty of their ”British jobs for British workers” campaign. The new government will bring net migration down from the hundreds of thousands to the tens of thousands.
I torsdags uttalade sig Damian Green, immigrationsminister:
We believe that immigration has been far too high in recent years, which is why the new government will reduce net migration back down to the levels of the 1990s — to tens of thousands rather than hundreds of thousands. Over the coming weeks and months the public will see us tackle this issue by introducing a wide range of new measures to ensure that immigration is properly controlled, including a limit on work permits, actions on marriage and an effective system of regulating the students who come here.
En rapport från Migrationwatch, en tankesmedja, avslöjade tidigare denna månad att Labours poängsystem för invandrare som skulle skära ner invandringen med 12 procent i själva verket lett till att tiotusentals fler kommit till landet.

The Government have, to their credit, made a clear commitment to getting net immigration down to tens of thousands. It was always inevitable that those with a financial interest in high levels of immigration would squawk. I am sure that the Government realises that the public have spoken clearly at the last election and they have a mandate to get the job done.
